The Neural Stem Cell Laboratory of the Department of Pathophysiology and Transplantation of the University of Milan works incessantly in search of a therapy capable of preventing the degenerative character of Charcot Marie Tooth type 2A.

One of the main challenges of the researchers’ team led by Professor Corti is to silence the “sick” gene and replace it with a gene that can work properly; as an ideal therapeutic approach for this disease.

Since when it was born, our association has been supporting this gene research project with all the resources that come thanks to the solidarity of those who support us.

And today we are extremely proud to inform you that the authoritative journal Cellular Molecular Life Science has published the research work that our talented Dr Federica Rizzo (first author) conducted together with his colleagues and in collaboration with the King’s College, the Institute of Molecular Genetics “Romeo and Enrica Invernizzi”, the Department of Biomedical Sciences of the Humanitas University, the C. Besta Neurological Institute and the Preclinical Research Centre of the IRCCS Foundation Ca’ Granda Ospedale Maggiore Policlinico.

This is a great news for us!! Because this study provides the first proof of the effectiveness of this treatment for CMT2A and testifies to the perseverance of Professor Corti’s research team in the identification of possible therapeutic strategies. Thank you very much!
